Virginia Woolf

“Mrs Dalloway said she would buy the flowers herself.”
The life

A central figure of the Bloomsbury Group who ran the Hogarth Press with her husband and wrote novels that follow consciousness rather than plot. She drowned herself in 1941.

She made the interior life the proper subject of the novel, and wrote its finest essay on women and fiction.
