Wilfred Owen

“The poetry is in the pity.”
The life

He enlisted in 1915, was invalided with shell shock, and met Siegfried Sassoon at Craiglockhart, who showed him how to turn anger into poetry. He was killed a week before the Armistice.

He wrote the war's most exact poems, and made pity and protest the same act.
